I always wonder if I am the only one who says “sleeping” as my hobby whenever asked and then scrutinized for saying that and imposed with huge words of unprofessionalism.
So, let’s start by asking why sleep is devoid of this achievement and understand its importance.
What is a hobby?
We all know that, no matter how busy we are, we enjoy doing what we love. A hobby is an activity that a person enjoys doing for pleasure.

People can have a variety of hobbies according to their respective interests. The most common hobbies enlisted by individuals are enhancement hobbies, physical activities, gathering hobbies, interacting hobbies, adventurous hobbies, and domiciliary hobbies.
Enhancement Hobbies
Reading, learning any foreign language, writing, blogging, drawing, and painting are hobbies that improve your intellect.
Physical activities
Physical activities are done to keep one healthy and fit. Physical exercise helps in reducing stress and in relaxing the body and brain. Hobbies included in this section are yoga, gymnastics, horseback riding, and other team sports.
Gathering Hobbies
This involves collecting items that you find interesting and unique, like stones of different shapes and colors, decor, antiques, and postcards, or making useful items from waste.
Interacting Hobbies
This involves meeting new people, conversing with them, sharing your views with them and explaining yours, or getting along with your friends and playing cards, going to a movie or drama.
Adventurous Hobbies
The hobbies for outdoor recreation consist of a group of activities occurring outdoors, like hiking, cycling, backpacking, mountain climbing, and gardening.
Domiciliary Hobbies
These are performed as a duty but can be done for enjoyment, like knitting, cooking, and sewing.
What does “sleeping” mean?
Sleeping is an art. Not everybody has the privilege of sleeping properly. Closing your eyes and then fainting is not sleep. Waking up smiling with a relaxed body when everything around you seems to be refreshing is what is termed as sleeping, although it looks like a fantasy, it is true.

Experts suggest a daily sleep of 6 to 8 hours. Sleeping has many benefits, including:
- Relaxing your body.
- Preventing heart attacks.
- Preventing cancer.
- Brushing up your memory.
- Give strength to your immune system.
- Aids creativity.
- Lessen depression and anxiety.
- Enhance thinking skills.
- Rejuvenate your body by building up protein molecules that repair any changes caused by stress and ultraviolet rays.
- Minimize the risk of Depression.
Sleep as a Hobby is equal to well-being
Sleep has remarkable benefits, then. We are not taking care of our sleep. Today’s generation, commonly known as Gen Z, is thinking about wealth and deteriorating health.
Due to all the time spent sitting in front of a gadget owing to office work and entertainment, and due to this pandemic for academic purposes, this is eating up our eyes and brains.
So, taking time out of a busy schedule and sleeping in your free time can be considered a hobby. But it doesn’t mean being lazy, sleeping all day, but completing your daily sleep cycle for a healthy, wealthy life.
